Service Description

During a 2-2.5 hour walk we'll learn how to use an Ordnance Survery (OS) map, together with a compass. We'll put these skills into practice by walking along a chosen course and taking a compass bearing to ensure we're on the right track. We'll repeat the steps to take a bearing at each waymarker along the route, and this repetition, with advice from myself, will allow you to bed in skills required to navigate using a map. No previous knowledge is required so you'll go from a novice to someone who can really 'get their bearings' on this hands on course! You'll need a copy of OS explorer map 181 and a compass with rotating bezel are - I can loan these if necessary although I recommend getting your own to practice with! I usually start walks at Coombe Hill car park (HP17 0UR), but can change location if you prefer. This is a private tuition walk for 1-4 people. PLEASE ENQUIRE FOR DATES TO SUIT YOU
