About the event
Do you know you alder from your elder and your beech from your birch?
If not this walk is perfect for you!
We'll take an in depth look at around 15 UK tree species, including how to identify them, why they are here, and how they grow. We'll talk about what these trees were traditionally used for, and still are today for crafts, furniture, food, medicine, and fire.
You'll get hands on experience and personal expertise that you won't get from books.
A 2 mile walk with plenty of stops over 2.5 hours.
*Meeting point: 10am. Princes Risborough. Meet on the grass at the junction of New Road and Oak road (top of the hill behind M&S) Postcode: HP27 0BW Grid Ref. SP 81224 03141. Park on one of the nearby side streets beng careful not to bock driveways, or in Horns Lane car park y M&S, which can get full quickly.
*Public transport: 20 min walk from Princes Risborough train station. 5 mins walk from P. Risborough Market Square bus stop
*Accessibility: Moderate walk - 1 steep climb up a stepped hill.
*Audience: Families & dogs welcome. Zero knowledge to intermediate are welcome.
*Kit: Bring waterproofs as the course runs rain or shine!
