About the event
We'll talk about how our ancestors used plants to make string, then gather some nettles (with gloves) and I'll show you how to prepare them.
You’ll get some pre-prepared fibres to start you off and we’ll learn the traditional technique for twisting them into a strong cord.Â
Finally, we can add a decorative bead that we’ll make from the Elder tree.  You can relax and take your time making a bracelet whilst I use some of the nettle leaves to make nettle soup we can all try. No prior knowledge or skills needed.
Suitable for adults and children 9 years or older (the technique requires some dexterity). Children must be supervisedÂ
Supervising adult free of charge - please buy 1 ticket per child who will take part (no need to buy tickets for supervising adults).
Orchard View have an excellent cafe on site if you would like to visit beforehand (open 9:30-3pm).
