About the event
Due to COVID-19 this curse will now be run remotely. If you book by June 5th I will post you a teaching pack containing the instructions, some pre-prepared nettle fibres and elder beads. You can then use these to follow along with me on a live video call as I show you how to prepare the cord.
You'll learn how our ancestors made invaluable strings for tying their packs, clothes, camp furniture, and for fishing with. We'll look at some examples of cords made from plants and trees.
I'll teach you how to take nettles and correctly process them into fibres. We'l then learn the twisting technique which makes these fibres into a strong cord which can be used as a bracelet, necklace, or simple string.
I'll show you how to make natural beads from the elder tree and thread these onto your cordage as decoration. Then you can keep the finished product to wear proudly!
A fun and relaxing way to connect with nature. Due to thedexterity required for the twsting technique, I recommend ages 10+ for this course, but possibly younger with adult help.
